PEN PALS

Room 17 is bursting with excitement as we begin our new Pen Pal relationship with DR Hamman School in Alberta, Canada. The children have been busy writing a letter to their new pen pal this week and we are just putting the finishing touches to the letter before sending them off to Canada. I have been very impressed with the letter writing skills of the children and their interest in the topic.

"I find it very exciting to be writing to someone on the other side of the world, in Canada! I am looking forward to forming a friendship with my pen pal, Damian, and finding out about what life is like in Canada. As a class we have learnt about the weather in Canada and that the school is in a farming district - known for farming corn. We even saw a photo of Ms Roberts, who was in a snowy, mountainous area of Canada. I would definitely like to get over to Canada one day." - Logen

"I think it is a great opportunity and learning experience that we are having, writing to a pen pal. We are forming a long distance friendship with another person in Canada, from across the pond.I am looking forward to reading the letter that my pen pal, Addison, writes to me." - Makayla

"It is pretty amazing how we are writing to people in Canada from DR Hamman School that we don't even know yet.I am really looking forward to sending more letters to my pen pal, Carson, and receiving letters as well. We have learnt a lot about Canada in the process. I can't believe how cold it gets over there - it must be like living in a fridge sometimes! I enjoyed sharing some of the Aussie words and slang with my pen pal, such as 'G'day mate,' 'Down-under,' and 'True blue, dinky di and fair dinkum.' - Dean
